Now that the 10th Anniversary Future of Music Policy Summit has wrapped up (it was AWESOME; video archives soon!), we’re on to the next exciting thing. We’re talking about the CMJ Music Festival which takes place NYC on October 19-23.
FMC is leading the charge with two panels, both on Thursday, October 21. Here’s the skinny:
Controlling the Pipeline: Net Neutrality and Access
Whether you’re a DIY dynamo or major label monarch, net neutrality (the principle behind the open internet) is now your concern. Some claim that it complicates efforts to combat unauthorized filesharing; others say the benefits of a level techno-playing field are far more important. Either way, the decisions of policymakers will ultimately shape how musicians, labels and fans interact online.
