Despite the snow flurries in DC on Sunday, Jan 5, the Summit is still happening!

The Policy Summit is still scheduled to start today -- Sunday, January 5. In the case that the weather gets worse, please check local news outlets for notification of Georgetown’s closure. Updated information can also be obtained by calling 202-518-4117 or visiting the Summit’s website. If the Summit is cancelled, all tickets and credentials will be honored for a rescheduled event.

The Policy Summit is being held in Gaston Hall, an auditorium on the third floor of Healy Hall on the Georgetown University Campus. Healy Hall is pretty easy to find; it's the gorgeous Gothic building with the clock tower that you see in front of you as you enter the campus from the main gates at 37th and O Streets, NW.

Go here to download a map of the Georgetown campus.

Closest Airports:

  • Washington National/Ronald Reagan Airport (airport code DCA)

  • Dulles Airport (VA) (airport code IAD)

  • Baltimore-Washington Airport (MD) (airport code BWI)

Closest Train Station:

  • Washington's Union Station

Regional Ground Transportation:

Washington DC has the Metro -- a subway line that links most parts of the city and serves as a great way to get around. Unfortunately the Metro doesn't have a stop in Georgetown. The closest stops are the GWU stop (orange line) and the Rosslyn stop (orange line), both of which are about a mile from campus.

As you might guess there are a plethora of cab companies in the DC area. DC cabs are paid by the zone, not by a meter. If you’d like to take a cab to Georgetown, we recommend that you have them drop you off a block away from campus on 36th St. It will be a full zone cheaper than having them take you to the gates. From the 18th St. & 11th St. hostels it will be $6.90 normally or $7.90 during rush hour. Here are a couple that service the DC/VA area: Yellow Cab of DC (202) 544-1212, Red Top Cab of Virginia (703) 522-3333.

Parking near Campus:

Parking is extremely limited around Georgetown. There's basically no public parking available on campus, and street parking in the area is limited to 2 hours unless you have a residential permit. And the police are ruthless with the tickets. We'd suggest cabbing it or finding other means unless you want to run out and move your car every few hours.

Hotels:

Here are a number of hotel recommendations for folks attending the Summit on various budgets.

A moderately priced motel, especially by DC standards. Don’t expect mints on the pillows, but it is convenient to many fun things in Arlington as well as transportation into the city, the train station or National Airport. Within a couple of blocks of the restaurant where we have the Pho dinner, coffee shops, great Vietnamese restaurants, a Whole Foods grocery store, a post office and a record shop. Within stumbling distance of late night pizza, a 7-11, and a Dunkin’ Donuts. Short metro ride to a Kinko’s with internet access. Very close to the Clarendon and Virginia Square metro stops (Orange line).

This hostel is in the way-trendy and busy Adams Morgan district, with loads of restaurants and bars on 18th Street. It’s a short walk to Dupont Circle, which has more shopping, bars and restaurants. We’ve never been to this hostel but folks who have said it’s a typical hostel setup in a great location.
