The Program

By convening this Summit in Montreal, FMC will broaden the scope of our annual educational program to address the variety of issues that are affecting musicians and music communities in the US, Canada, and worldwide as production, promotion and sales increasingly move to a global digital platform. Such panel topics include:

  • International copyright and licensing issues
  • How international orchestras are navigating change
  • The state of the Canadian music industry
  • Digital rights management
  • New radio and media issues
  • Emerging technologies and business models for the music community
  • The effect of government support for the arts on musicians, songwriters and composers

FMC will also work with Pop Montreal to program hands-on, skill-building workshops designed to meet the needs of the independent music community.

Policy Summit 2005

Who should sponsor?

Technology companies: FMC's audience includes many early adopters and trendsetters. Not only will a sponsorship raise your visibility, but the Summit is also a great place to network.

Music Associations and Organizations: Raise your organization's profile with an audience that is already interested in engaging in policy and advocacy issues.

Academic Institutions: Demonstrate your school's commitment to addressing the most current challenges to IP and copyright law by joining us as a sponsor.

Law Firms: The IP/entertainment law firm field is a crowded one. Distinguish your law firm as one that recognizes the complexities of the shifting copyright and contract landscape by joining us as a sponsor.
